Smoldering fires often go unnoticed for extended periods because they require less oxygen. As a result, they can burn for hours or even days before evolving into a full-blown fire. The importance of having UFAC-verified furniture cannot be overstated. According to the National Fire Protection Association (NFPA), there are approximately 350,000 home structure fires in the United States annually, resulting in 2,620 deaths, 11,670 injuries, and USD 7.8 billion in property damage. (Statistics are not available for Mexico). While not all of these fires were caused by upholstered furniture, investing in UFAC-verified furniture is a simple and effective measure to minimize the risk of smoldering fires.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
