In 1995, the house was acquired by renowned historian and chronicler of Mexico City, Guillermo Tovar de Teresa, who made it his home and intellectual refuge. During his residency, Tovar de Teresa filled the house with a vast collection of historical objects, artworks and memorabilia, transforming it into a reflection of his passion for Mexico's past.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

A cultural legacy<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

After Tovar de Teresa's death in 2013, the house became part of the country's cultural heritage. In 2019, thanks to the Carlos Slim Foundation, it opened its doors to the public as the third headquarters of the Soumaya Museum<\/a>, offering visitors a fascinating journey through the history of Mexico through the architecture, art and daily life of a bygone era.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The building preserves the essence of the former residence, incorporating modern museographic elements that allow one to appreciate the architectural beauty of the mansion and the richness of the historian's collection.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The museum offers a journey through the history of Mexico, from pre-Hispanic times to the 20th century. The collection, made up of more than 9,000 pieces, includes works of art, furniture, decorative objects and historical documents that narrate the cultural and social evolution of the country.
