Invest in Charm and Culture: The New Magical Towns of Jalisco

The Magical Towns represent a unique tourism initiative in Mexico, conceived by the government to promote and preserve local culture, traditions and history. This strategy, implemented in 2001, selects destinations with great tourism potential, considering criteria such as their cultural attractions, their infrastructure and their commitment to sustainability. The designation as a “Magical Town” gives these towns global visibility and economic support, making them ideal destinations for both tourists and real estate investors.

Key Criteria for Selection of Magical Towns

  1. Tourist attraction: Each town must have attractive cultural, historical or natural elements, and a minimum population of 2,000 inhabitants.
  2. Quality Infrastructure: They must be prepared to receive and serve tourists in a comfortable and safe manner.
  3. Heritage Conservation: Commitment to the preservation of both its cultural heritage and its natural environment.
  4. Sustainability: They must promote sustainable tourism that minimizes negative impacts on their environment.

Jalisco: A State on the Rise with its Magical Towns

Recently, the Secretary of Tourism, Miguel Torruco, announced the incorporation of 45 new towns to the program, bringing the total to 177 “Magical Towns.” Jalisco stands out with three new inclusions: Cocula, Sayula and Temacapulín, adding a total of 12 Magical Towns in this state.

Cocula, known as the “Cradle of Mariachi,” is a cultural gem where the melodies of guitars and trumpets fill the air. A must-see is the Mariachi Museum, which offers an immersion into its rich musical history. In terms of real estate, Cocula presents investment opportunities ranging from colonial houses to haciendas that could be transformed into boutique hotels.

Temacapulín: An Oasis of Sustainability

Located next to the Verde River, Temacapulín is an authentic paradise of tranquility and nature. Its hot springs and the picturesque church of San Francisco de Asís are just part of its charm. In the real estate space, there is growing interest in the development of socially and environmentally responsible resorts and cottages.

Sayula: Literature and Tradition Merged

Sayula is not only a tourist destination, but also a window to the literary universe, being the place of origin of works such as “Pedro Páramo” by Juan Rulfo. In addition, he is recognized for his artisanal cutlery and delicious cajeta. It offers a rich combination of history, architecture and culture, making it an attractive destination for real estate investment.

The Perfect Time to Discover and Invest

The new Magical Towns of Jalisco offer unique tourist experiences and exciting real estate opportunities. Now is the ideal time to explore Cocula, Temacapulín and Sayula, whether as a tourist in search of adventure or as an investor in search of promising opportunities.
