Puerto Vallarta will celebrate the seventh edition of the Cinéma DiVa Festival

The Cinéma DiVa Festival returns this 2021 to Puerto Vallarta with a hybrid format to celebrate its seventh edition from December 12 to 15, taking place simultaneously in Montreal, Canada. During this cinematographic meeting, a total of 38 screenings from 6 different countries were presented.

Puerto Vallarta is proud to welcome you again to this meeting that projects the best of the seventh art, bringing together feature films and short films from Mexico, Canada, the United States, Peru, Argentina and Spain.

The seventh edition of Cinéma DiVa, which will be held in person and “online”, will pay tribute to the producer, screenwriter and film director Óscar Blancarte, with around five feature films that he has produced, written and directed as well as various short films, documentaries and television series.

During the opening gala on December 12 at the Vallarta Institute of Culture, the feature film “Drunken Birds” will be screened, which is currently competing on behalf of Canada to be included in the category of “Best International Film” at the Oscars 2022.

The film was selected for speaking of the temporary agricultural workers of Mexico in the province of Quebec, in Canada. Its main actor, Jorge Antonio Guerrero, who will be present during the screening in Puerto Vallarta, participated with Yalitza Aparicio in the multi-award-winning film “Roma” by the filmmaker Alfonso Cuarón. The support received from the Consulate of Mexico in Montreal was a key element for the film to become part of this festival.

The film meeting will also screen the short film “Mario”, by director Yupi Segura, which was made by the Mexican Soccer Team, which with just 4 minutes, promises to impact the public because it is a project based on real events.

Likewise, during the seventh edition of the Cinéma DiVa Festival, a twinning relationship will begin with “Cinema Iguana”, which will screen different films on Isla Cuale in Puerto Vallarta during the framework of this meeting.

Another twinning that will take place during the festival will be with one of the invited countries: Argentina, which through the Argentine web channel Cinemarplatense, will make an alliance with Cinéma DiVa to strengthen the dissemination of film projects between Mexico and the South American country. .

The festival will also have various activities that will promote cinematographic creativity, where 10 students from the Autonomous University of Querétaro and La Cofradía (Colectivo de Cine de Querétaro), will join with students from the Arcos University of Puerto Vallarta to make a short film in 48 hours. that will highlight the natural and tourist attractions of Puerto Vallarta.

The film that will close the seventh edition of the festival will be “Sirena”, produced by Heriberto Flores and the actors Edgar Treviño and Wally Lobatto, who will be present during the event that will take place at the Vallarta Institute of Culture on December 15th.
