A couple of weeks ago, Yvonne Kalman invited a group of friends to visit Puppy Paradise, the wonderful shelter that the Yvonneka Foundation has created to help and rescue puppies that are unprotected and abandoned on the streets.
Puppy Paradise is located near Playa Grande in a house perfectly adapted to house 100 dogs. There are newborns, puppies and adults, all separated but free in a wonderful interaction between the dogs themselves and humans.
Every month, on average, 10-15 dogs are sent to Canada, previously adopted, in perfect health, sterilized and ready to go to their forever home with their new family.
On Friday mornings you can visit Puppy Paradise, you just have to make an appointment in advance. During that time of visit you are with the dogs and you can also take them out for a walk. Remember that they are animals eager for affection and that they have been mistreated and abandoned. Any show of affection is greatly appreciated. In addition, on Sundays there is an event “Walk with the dogs on the Malecón” where part of the staff brings some dogs with their leashes to walk on the Malecón and socialize more.
