Puerto Vallarta celebrates love and loyalty at the 6th edition of Kukur Tihar
The sixth annual Kukur Tihar Puerto Vallarta, a heartwarming celebration honoring the special bond between humans and animals, is set to take place on Saturday, November 9th, from 3:00 PM to 9:00 PM at the Jardín de La Luna, adjacent to the Hotel Puerto de Luna.
This year’s event, organized by Martha Dau and a dedicated committee, promises to be a day filled with fun, education, and compassion.
Inspired by the Nepalese tradition of Kukur Tihar, which translates to "Dog Festival," the event has become a beloved tradition in Puerto Vallarta, merging the spiritual essence of both Kukur Tihar and Mexico's Day of the Dead.
A Day of Celebration and Awareness
The festivities will feature a variety of activities for both humans and their furry companions, including:
- Educational Talks: Experts in animal welfare will share valuable insights on topics such as canine rehabilitation, animal nutrition, and legal protections for animals.
- Live Entertainment: A talented group of local artists will provide live music, a puppet show, and a captivating mural painting.
- Adoption Event: Doogy Home will host a special adoption event, giving loving homes to deserving dogs.
- Food and Vendors: A variety of food vendors and animal-related businesses will be on site.
- Ceremony: The highlight of the event will be a moving ceremony where dogs will be adorned with garlands and blessed by their owners.
