Many Mexican manufacturers begin to offer furniture trends in 2023; New and exciting styles and designs that attract both owners and interior designers. From soft and padded sectional to elegant exterior furniture, there is something for everyone. In this article, I share some of the latest options available for condominium owners in Puerto Vallarta and Nuevo Nayarit.
Last month I visited many of our manufacturers and suppliers to see the new lines they plan to offer. February is always the year in Mexico when most companies announce changes in their product lines. This visit allowed me to see what is new and inspect all the articles to make sure they will last in our weather. Since most furniture are not made to support our hostile surrounding environment of the ocean, high humidity, intense ultraviolet rays and termites, before offering any article to our clients, we make our due diligence.
Furniture trends in 2023
The first manufacturer that I visited was Palliser. Palliser is a leading manufacturer of sofas, sectionals, sofa beds and recliners in North America. They have manufacturing plants in Saltillo and, without question, offer the most comfortable and well-made upholstered furniture in Mexico. They have many new fabric and leather cover options this year, but what really caught my attention is their new soft and pillowy sectionals that feel like you are sitting on a cloud.
These sectionals are perfect for those who enjoy comfort and relaxation. They have loose back cushions with fiber filling and loose seat cushions that feature high-resiliency, high-density foam core with a polyester wrap. This combination means that, unlike most upholstered furniture in Mexico, you will not need to worry about the seat foam compressing to where it feels like you are sitting on a rock. You can select the pieces you prefer to make a configuration that fits your needs and your room size. You can also choose from over 200 fabric and leather colors. With this model, you can also select the arm style you prefer, including a rolled arm, a track arm or a max track arm. This new sectional, the Palliser Ensemble, will be a big hit with our new condo owners in the Bay of Banderas area.
Also, in their 2023 catalog, and something that we have had a lot of requests for, are upholstered beds. There are 11 different models of upholstered beds from which to choose. Whether you prefer a mid-century modern design, a contemporary style or a transitional style bed, Palliser offers it. Order the headboard alone or the entire bed with a fabric-covered bed base. You can select any cover from their catalog, including leather, fabric or, my favorite, performance fabric. Performance fabric does not stain, so it is perfect for our condos in Vallarta and Nuevo Nayarit, especially if you rent out your condo.
As if that was not enough great news, Palliser now offers gas-lift beds. A gas-lift bed, also known as an ottoman bed, uses easy-lift hydraulics to raise the base of the bed to create a space for storage underneath the mattress. Do you need more storage in your condo in Vallarta? This piece of furniture is a great solution. A gas-lift bed will give you a ton of extra storage if you have a King size or Queen size bed. There are ten different styles to choose from and, again, available in many cover options.
The second manufacturer I met with is rolling out a new stain color for their wood furniture called “Carbon,” with which I fell completely in love. It is a textured black finish and adds a touch of sophistication and elegance to every piece.
The black finish is perfect for those who want to create a modern and edgy vibe in their condo. Pair it with gold handles and pulls; we are talking décor glam! Their new line in this yummy color includes dining and coffee tables, dressers, credenzas, tv entertainment centers, headboards, and nightstands. A complete condo with all these pieces would be too much, but layering in one or two pieces will take your condo to new design heights – guaranteed.
In addition, this well-regarded manufacturer is one of Mexico’s leading suppliers of engineered wood furniture. This revolutionary product gives you furniture that looks like it is made with genuine wood but is more stable and lower in price. Furniture made with engineered wood does not crack, bow, cup and split like regular wood, and each piece is treated against termites and wood-eating bugs.
This material makes it a perfect solution for condo owners who want the look and feel of solid wood furniture but want to avoid paying the high price tag.
