Solar Windows: Innovation in renewable energy

The solar windows, a new option in renewable energy alternatives, are solar panels made of transparent materials that allow sunlight to pass through them, absorb light and turn it into electrical energy. A very sophisticated renewable energy creation system that already dispenses with elements outside housing such as traditional panels.

The materials used for the manufacture of these transparent panels vary depending on the type and technology, but generally include a transparent coating made of Polycarbonate or tempered glass. This is combined with a glass layer, a thermoelectric insulator and a glass texture film to increase durability and protect the internal sheet.

The durability of transparent solar panels is excellent. They are designed for
resist weathering and do not require maintenance. Likewise, tempered glass technology increases its resistance to ultraviolet light and impacts, which makes them very resistant to wear. In addition, transparent panels reflect light instead of absorbing it, allowing them to remain clean of dust and dirt. In this way, their efficiencies remain at very high levels throughout their useful life.

These windows are already being used in different parts of the world such as in Copenhagen International School or Faculty of Biomedical and Physical Sciences of the Michigan State University campus.

Founded by MIT scientists, Ubiquitous Energy is the company that makes this type of facilities and is the most efficient in the production of transparent solar energy. Visit their website if you want to familiarize yourself with this technology.
